The frequency of fifty-five behavior symptoms was studied in the entire kindergarten through grade two population of a midwestern university town. Many symptoms proved to be of high frequency; boys had a greater number of symptoms with a marked excess of acting out than did girls. Generally speaking, the mean number of symptoms per child decreased with age in both sexes.
