Abstract Multiwall carbon nanotubes were observed in a small fraction of soot collected by thermophoretic precipitation from Texas piñon pine wood burning in air. Transmission electron microscopy showed the carbon nanotubes to be aggregated with other fullerene‐like nanoforms and graphite fragments. Copyright © 2006 Royal Meteorological Society
