Transmission of an Optical Carrier Frequency over a Telecommunication Fiber Link

Abstract

We investigated the transfer of an ultra-stable optical frequency via an optical fiber link. We achieved an instability below 6x10 <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">-18</sup> for a distance of 86 km, and <2x10 <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">-17</sup> over 211 km (integration time ~8000s).
