Abstract The dielectric constant and the conductivity of polycrystalline ferrites are measured at temperatures between 100 and 400°K and at various frequencies. Different activation energies are obtained for the d.c. and the h.f. conductivity of the samples. Both positive and negative temperature coefficients of the conductivity and the dielectric constant depending on frequency are observed. It is found that the temperature dependence of the dielectric constant is mainly due to the temperature dependence of the conductivities of both types of the Maxwell‐Wagner layers.
