Charles C Thomas, Springfield, Ill, 1965 The book by Pool and Potts, a collaboration of neurosurgeon and radiologist, represents the first comprehensive treatise in the field since that of Manby (1952). It updates the variety of treatments for vascular anomalies, ranging from non-operative conservatism to direct exposure for clipping, plastic coating, pilojection and electrothrombosis. Emphasis is placed on use of temporary hemostatic clips under moderate hypothermia for direct intracranial attack which, in Pool's opinion, is the optimum therapy. Items of particular interest include vasospasm, four-vessel angiography, temporary cervical carotid occlusion, aneurysms of the anterior communicating area, multiple aneurysms, and intracranial bleeding in pregnancy.
