Abstract The occurrence of three‐rooted mandibular first molars was studied in the Thai. 19.2% of the mandibular first molars extracted from 364 Thai patients revealed an additional distal root, an incidence which is comparable with data from other races of Mongoloid extraction. The clinical significance of such molars is discussed briefly.
