Laddersiloxanes — silsesquioxanes with defined ladder structure

Abstract

Data on the synthesis, structures, and properties of laddersiloxanes (silsesquioxanes with defined ladder structure) reported over the last 15 years are summarized. Synthetic methods applied to prepare tricyclic, pentacyclic, heptacyclic, and nonacyclic laddersiloxanes are considered. The structural features of laddersiloxanes determined by X-ray crystallography and the key properties (thermal stability, hydrophobicity, etc.) are analyzed. The bibliography includes 50 references.
