Density and temperature dependence of the isotropic-nematic transition

Abstract

An equation that relates the density and temperature of a fluid at a transition between isotropic-liquid and nematic phases is proposed and found to be consistent with available data. Both steric repulsions and van der Waals interactions are included in the discussion.
