An extension of the Golden-Thompson theorem

Abstract

In this paper, we shall prove | tr e A+B | tr(|e A ||e B |) for normal matrices A, B. In particular, tr e A+B tr(e A e B ) if A, B are Hermitian matrices, yielding the Golden-Thompson inequality.
