Pterygium Throughout the World.

Abstract

This small volume reviews the geographic distribution, theories of origin, histology, surgery, and radiation of pterygium, concluding with a report of the results of the author's experience in 223 cases treated in Brisbane between June 1959 and June 1961. He points out the high rate of recurrence with excision alone (69% in Brisbane) which can be reduced to 20% by beta irradiation.
