Abstract An improved method has been developed for the synthesis of triaryl and trialkyl indium compounds by the reaction of diorganomercury compounds with activated indium metal which was prepared by reducing an indium salt with alkali metals in hydrocarbon solvents. Trimethylindium, triphenyl-indium and tritolylindium have been prepared in hydrocarbon solvents using this activated indium metal.
