The implementation of thirty-two pentafluorophenyl groups in the periphery of a phthalocyanine analogue results in a photosensitizer with a pronounced resistance towards autophotooxidation. The synthesis relies on the microwave-assisted cycloaddition of terminal alkynes to tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)cyclopentadienone, for which a new route was devised.
