CVD of titanium carbonitride at moderate temperature: Properties and applications

Abstract

In applications where thick, hard coatings with a low residual stress are required moderate-temperature chemical vapour deposition of titanium carbonitride can be used. It is only in the last few years that industry has begun to recognize the merits of this process. The properties of such coatings and their industrial applications are looked at in this article.
