Theoretical Interpretation of the Equatorial Sporadic<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mi>E</mml:mi></mml:math>Layers

Abstract

A theoretical explanation of the echo structure of the equatorial sporadic E layers is presented. The explanation is based on an instability analysis of weakly ionized plasmas. Dip dependence of the electric field in the neighborhood of the dip equator was also studied, and it was concluded that this electric field is distributed in much the same way as the electric current versus dip angles.
