Synthesis and X-ray Crystal Structure of a Novel Zinc “Ate Complex”, [Li(TMEDA)]₂Zn(CH₂SiMe₂SiMe₂CH₂)₂

Abstract

[Li(TMEDA)] 2 Zn(CH 2 SiMe 2 SiMe 2 CH 2 ) 2 ( 6 ) (TMEDA = (CH 3 ) 2 NCH 2 CH 2 N(CH 3 ) 2 ) was obtained in 70% yield by a one-pot reaction of ClCH 2 SiMe 2 SiMe 2 CH 2 Cl, ZnCl 2, and lithium sodium alloy in diethyl ether. DTA investigations of the complex showed that thermal decomposition takes place at 148 °C; the molecular structure of 6 has been established by X-ray structure analysis.
