The haemoproteids of the avian family Cracidae (Galliformes) are reviewed. Haemoproteus cracidarum n. sp. is described. Haemoproteus rotundus ortalidum Gabaldon &Ulloa, 1978 is emended to Haemoproteus ortalidum and the species is redescribed. This latter haemoproteid is unique in that it is the only dimorphic haemoproteid known and it possesses several other characteristics which are unknown among other haemoproteids. Other haemoproteid records from the Cracidae are summarized.
