The third edition of this popular textbook has been revised and enlarged and offers an excellent interpretation of the present “state of the art” of Dental Radiography. Most of the material concerned with anatomical landmarks and abnormalities of the teeth and jaws is well illustrated with intraoral dental radiographs. The textual material found in each chapter complements the illustrations in an interesting and factual manner. The illustrations throughout the text are excellent in quality. Extra-oral radiographic technics are used to illustrate specific abnormalities that cannot be properly diagnosed from an intra-oral film alone. The bibliography at the end of each chapter is fairly representative of the literature except that it does not always include the best or most current articles regarding the topic in question. The chapter on Oral Roentgenographic Manifestations of Systemic Disease has been completely rewritten and presents the general dental practitioner an opportunity to see examples of practically every systemic condition that will affect the teeth and jaws. This chapter presents the best collection, currently available, of radiographs illustrating bone and tooth changes resulting from systemic diseases. Two new parts have been added to the appendix: “Roentgenographic Physics” and “Health Physics.” In addition, the part entitled, “Roentgenographic Techniques” in the appendix has been expanded to include the technics of Panoramic, Cephalometric, temporomandibular joint radiography, and sialography. While this text is primarily designed for dentists, it could very well also serve as a reference work in a library of any radiologist.
