THE OXIDATION OF METHYL FUMAROPIMARATE WITH LEAD TETRAACETATE

Abstract

The oxidation of methyl fumaropimarate (VII) with lead tetraacetate has been found to lead to four different products, two of which have rather novel structures. The results which led to the elucidation of the structures of these products are presented, along with speculation on their mode of formation.
