Abstract Various polycyclic arenes, such as naphthalenes, tetrahydroantharacenes, tetrahydrotetracenes, dihydropentacenes, and dihydropentaphenes are prepared from 2‐alkenylphenyl ketones and aldehydes by the catalytic use of copper(II) trifluoromethanesulfonate (Cu(OTf) 2 ) or trifluoromethanesulfuric acid (TfOH).
