Abstract In this study, the effects of low and medium temperatures on modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR) and impact strength of two Iranian wood species, namely beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) and lime (Tilia begonifolia), were investigated. In both species maximum MOE and MOR values were observed at low temperatures whereas minimum values were found at high temperatures. Linear relationships were established between both absolute values of flexural properties and their reductions due to temperature increase. Lime wood was more susceptible to temperature, and MOR was found to be affected more than MOE in both species. Impact strength was found to be independent of temperature.
