Chebyshev approximation to zero

Abstract

In this paper we shall be concerned with the questions of existence, uniqueness and constructability of those polynomials in k + 1 variables (x 9 x 2 , , x k9 y) of degree not greater than n s in x s and m in y which best approximate zero on Ji x J 2 x X h+i, I s = [-1, 1], in the Chebyshev sense.
