High-gain, broad spectral bandwidth erbium-doped fibre amplifier pumped near 1.5μm

Abstract

A small-signal gain exceeding 25 dB, and a 3dB spectral bandwidth of 35 nm around 1.545μm are obtained for an erbium-doped silica fibre amplifier pumped in the short wavelength wing of the 1.5μm absorption band.
