The derivative of the exponential matrix with respect to a matrix

Abstract

The gradient matrix and its extensions have been useful tools in estimation theory [1], [3], [6]. Vetter developed the generalization to matrix-valued functions [4], [8]. Vetter's theory is extended here to include the differentiation of the exponential of a matrix function.
