Abstract

Abstract The application of the radioactive tracer method to the diagnosis of intrathoracic goitre has been investigated using radioactive iodine and detecting its γ rays by the “in vivo” technique. A special apparatus was constructed which makes it possible to map out the area in which the radioactive material is contained. A case of intrathoracic goitre is described in which this technique has been used successfully.
