Charge-transfer-type π-conjugated copolymer of thiophene and 4-alkylthiazole is aligned on the surface of a platinum substrate, with the alkyl groups oriented toward the surface of the substrate. The copolymer served as a good material for a polymer field-effect transistor and gave a mobility of 2.5 × 10-3 cm2 V-1 s-1.
