The thermal conductivity of indium antimonide between 1.2 and 4.0°K

Abstract Measurements have been made of the thermal conductivity of n and p type specimens of indium antimonide between 1.2° and 4.0°k. The n type specimen (1.4 × 1017 carriers cm−3) shows little evidence of scattering other than at boundaries but the p type specimen (2 × 1016 carriers cm−3) has a lower conductivity which varies as T 5.2 at the lowest temperatures. The results are compared with calculations by Ziman (1956, 1957) based on scattering by carriers in an impurity band and by Pyle (1961) and Keyes (1961) on a localized carrier model.
