Abstract Homo metal cluster containing seven Zn atoms was efficiently synthesized in high yield via a template effect of a trisaloph ligand and characterized by NMR, MS, X-ray crystallography, etc. The homo cluster can be converted quantitatively to Zn3·La hetero metal cluster.
