Deuterated antimalarials: Synthesis of trideutero-artemisinin, dihydroartemisinin, and arteether

Abstract

The stereoselective total synthesis of the antimalarial agents artemisinin-d3 (1), dihydroartemisinin-d3 (2), and arteether-d3 (3), incorporating 2H at C-16 (C-9 methyl) is reported.
