Prospects of using periodic multilayer structures as source for XUV resonant transition radiation

Abstract

Resonant transition radiation can be generated when relativistic electrons cross a periodic arrangement of interfaces and when emitted waves satisfy the condition of constructive interference. The authors discuss the possibilities of producing resonant radiation in the XUV range using electrons of 2-30 MeV that cross an artificial periodic multilayer structure.
