Anterior chamber aspirate cultures in small incision cataract surgery.

Abstract

Small incision surgery has no proved advantage over extracapsular surgery in terms of reducing the intraoperative bacterial inoculum. The significance of this result in terms of causation of endophthalmitis is discussed.
