Investigations on sterols. VI The preparation of dihydrotachysterol₂

Abstract

Abstract The preparation of dihydrotachysterol 2 to be used as a standard in biological experiments was studied. The best yields were obtained by reduction of tachysterol 2 with excess alkali metal, dissolved in liquid ammonia or suspended in a secondary amine. A laboratory method for the preparation of tachysterol 2 is given.
