Abstract The reaction of hydrogen atoms with diazomethane was used as a source of methyl radicals to study the reaction of oxygen atoms with methyl radicals. This investigation verifies directly the earlier results that formaldehyde is a major product and that the rate constant is greater than 3×10 −11 cm 3 molecule −1 sec −1 .
