The concentration of Be7 has been measured in the vicinity of the United Kingdom in air near ground level, at 4000 feet, and in rain during the period October 1959 to August 1961. Some measurements are also included for altitudes of 30,000 to 47,000 feet during a shorter period. Airborne dust is sampled continuously near ground level at Chilton (51°N). With aircraft a composite sample of an effective altitude of approximately 4,000 feet is obtained over the eastern Atlantic (420N to 650N) about five times each week. Samples at higher altitudes (5O°N to 58°N) were collected less frequently. Samples of rain water are collected at Chilton and Milford Haven (51°N)using a polylthene funnel and bottle [Peirson et al., 1960].
