Observations on the phase transition in quartz by synchrotron-radiation X-ray topography

Abstract

By use of a high-temperature camera designed for in situ synchrotron-radiation X-ray topography the α−β transition was investigated in a Z-cut synthetic-quartz sample. Preliminary dynamical observations on movement of the boundaries between α and β phases and α1 and α2 domains are reported.
