Spreading and imbibition of viscous liquid on a porous base

Abstract

The competition between the viscous spreading of liquid on a substrate and the absorption by the substrate is studied using several models. The local behaviors near the contact lines, the time scales of droplet spreading and disappearance, and the dependencies on the physical factors that enter are discussed.
