Neutron star models have been constructed using representative (15) equations of state. The behavior of some of those macroscopic properties which are of observational or evolutionary significance is examined systematically. A simple analysis is given which connects the microscopic parameters (strength and range) of a nonrelativistic interaction with the macroscopic properties of a neutron star; this provides a simple way of understanding the systematic trends in the numerical results.
