Measurements have been made of the phase velocity and the attenuation of helicon waves propagated parallel to the axis of a long cylinder of indium metal at 4.2 °K. A constant magnetic field was applied parallel to the axis of the cylinder. Both the axisymmetric (m = 0) and dipole (m = ±1) modes were studied.
