Abstract

Abstract Thermal polymerization of styrene in the presence of 2,4-diphenyl-4-methyl-1-pentene (α-MSD) gave a low molecular weight polymer having a terminal double bond and a cumyl moiety without lowering the polymerization rate. A chain transfer mechanism through addition-fragmentation reaction is presented.
