Measurements of the Sound from Circular Cylinders in an Air Stream

Abstract

The frequency and intensity of the sound produced by flow past circular cylinders was investigated experimentally in the range of Reynolds number in which a periodic shedding of vortices occurs. The cylinders were placed in a wind tunnel or on a whirling device.
