Abstract The objective of the study was to determine the role of Finnish Bursaphelenchus mucronatus as a possible pathogen in Scots pine, Pinus sylvestris , under Finnish ambient weather conditions. Small seedlings and young field grown trees were used as inoculation targets. The results suggested the nematode being of minor importance as a tree pathogen in Finland.
