Abstract By reacting TaCl 5 with LiC 6 H 5 and LiC 6 H 4 ‐4‐CH 3 salts, the anions Ta(C 6 H 5 ) 6 and Ta(C 6 H 4 ‐4‐CH 3 ) 6 were obtained in small yields. They were structurally characterized by low‐temperature single‐crystal structure determination and found to have quite similar structures, which can be described as slightly distorted trigonal prismatic.
