Abstract The compounds PbMo 6 X 14 with X = Cl(I), Br(II), I(III) were synthesized from corresponding mixtures of lead(II) and molybdenum(II) halides. The crystal structures were determined by X-ray analyses and were refined in the cubic spacegroup Pn [unk] (no. 201, sec. setting). The cell dimensions are I: a = 12.921(1) Å, II: a = 13.504(2) Å and III: a = 14.429(2) Å. The structures described below are isotypic to HgMo 6 Cl 14 although some differences are observed. Structural and crystal chemical relations will be discussed.
