AbstractIn 7 dogs with chronic, duodenal Thomas fistulas and gastrostomies, vagotomy had no effect on the basal secretion, and also failed to change the response to exogenous hormonal stimulation. Atropine had a pronounced depressing effect on the basal secretion of fluid. Also the protein secretion in response to secretin was reduced. The secretion of fluid and bicarbonate in response to isolated stimulation with pancreozymin increased after atropine, whereas the secretin-stimulated secretion remained unchanged. The findings indicate the existence of local cholinergic mechanisms.Key-words: Atropinepancreaspancreatic juicepancreozyminsecretinvagotomy
