Two interlocking substructures –infinite chains of β‐cyclodextrin monomers and [Mg(H 2 O) 6 ]Cl 2 building blocks–form the basis of a novel composite. The chains of inorganic components, comprising Mg(H 2 O) 6 octahedra linked through Cl anions and water of crystallization, are threaded through the cavities of the cyclodextrins. The complete structure is stabilized by hydrogen bonds.
