Electrochemical methods for predicting behavior of corrosion-resistant alloys are reviewed and analyzed on the basis of modern electrode kinetic theory. The noble metal alloy concept and other methods to increase the corrosion resistance of active-passive metals are considered in detail. The problems associated with the measurement and interpretation of potentiostatic, anodic polarization curves are also discussed. A parameter, passivity index, is defined and utilized to predict corrosion behavior under different environmental conditions. 2.3.5
