The editors of the first edition of<i>The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics</i>cited as their major objectives "the correlation of pharmacology with related medical sciences, the reinterpretation of the actions and uses of drugs from the viewpoint of important advances in medicine, and the placing of emphasis on the applications of pharmacodynamics to therapeutics." These objectives have been achieved yet again in the seventh edition of this classic text. "[T]he descriptions of commonly used ophthalmic medications are surprisingly comprehensive considering the encyclopedic scope of this book."
