Abstract

The decays of a heavy lepton involving the hadronic vector current are calculated from electron-positron-annihilation data. The result, $\ensuremath{\Gamma}({\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}+{(2n \mathrm{pions})}^{\ensuremath{-}})=1.69\ensuremath{\Gamma}({\ensuremath{\tau}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}+{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{e})$ for ${M}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}=1.9$ GeV and ${m}_{{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\tau}}}=0$, and its implications are discussed.
