In this study, wind characteristics of Amasra were analyzed with hourly wind data collected between 1997 and 2006. Wind characteristics such as monthly average mean speeds, power densities, turbulence intensities, maximum gust, and prevailing wind directions were identified. Weibull distribution model was used to determine energy output of thirty commercial wind turbines ranging from 335 to 3000 kW. Estimated mean capacity factors were calculated between 26.8% and 43.9%.
