Influence of acetate and propionate on sulphate-reducing bacteria activity

Abstract

The present results show that the natural presence of propionate in wastewater allows stable sulphate reduction, which decreases the biogas production, but provides an opportunity for using SRB beneficially in wastewater treatment.
