Abstract

This paper gives a taxonomic survey of free-living and plant-parasitic nematodes collected by Dr. M. Oostenbrink in Venezuela in the spring of 1962. The list contains 219 species, for each of which the collecting localities are indicated. In lower altitudes tropical and subtropical species are more frequent, whereas in the mountainous regions more species are found which are distributed in the colder zones of the earth. In the systematic part 95 species are described, of which 24 are new: Mesorhabditis capitata n. sp., Eucephalobus pulcher n. sp., Acrobeles undulatus n. sp., Tylenchorhynchus contractus n. sp., Peltamigratus pachyurus n. sp., Criconemoides oostenbrinki n. sp., Bursaphelenchus digitulus n. sp., B. gonzalezi n. sp., Chronogaster daoi n. sp., Mononchus venezolanus n. sp., Mesodorylaimus globiceps n. sp., Eudorylaimus morbidus n. sp., Drepanodorus orthodon n. sp., Discolaimus affinis n. sp., D. mucurubanus n. sp., Tylencholaimus leptonchoides n. sp., Carcharolaimus drepanodon n. sp., Dorylaimellus longicollis n. sp., D. spicatus n. sp., D. nygellurus n. sp., Dorylaimoides porifer n. sp., Doryllium longicaudatum n. sp., Tyleptus gymnochilus n. sp. and Alaimus striatus n. sp. Nine species (genera Pelodera, Zeldia, Tylenchorhynchus, Heterodera, Seinura, Oionchus, Tylencholaimus and Thornenema gen. aff.) are possibly new, but are not named, as the material available was considered insufficient. Criconemoides citri Steiner is synonymized with C. sphaerocephalus Taylor; Mesodorylaimus annulatus (v. Daday) J. B. Goodey is placed back in Dorylaimus s.s. ; Eudorylaimus intrastriatus (Loos) Andrassy is transferred to Discolaimoides and Thornenema limnophilum (De Man) Andrassy to Dorylaimoides. The genus Tyleptus is removed from Campydoridae and placed back in Leptonchidae.
